State of Mind

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Frame of Mind.”

If an amazing artist were to paint a portrait of the inside of my mind as of late, it would be a landscape of a desert, the heat visible as it rises off the sand in a hazy blur.  Cactus standing, reaching for the scorching sun in the windless moment of the heat of the day.

Out of the corner of the canvas comes a torrent of wind, driving the sand in sheets across the painting, sifting itself into colors, only to be blown back then causing streams of color, swirling and shifting until suddenly, the torrent of wind, she dies out of the scenery, leaving only a painting that mesmerizes and calms for a moment, only to draw unexpected feelings from eyes that look to see.
